Diorama   Diorama - Sunset After the Fire Kiln formed glass with dichroic and 23carat gold lustre on a Caithness Stone base Traditional dioramas sought to imitate nature and thereby instil the viewer with a reverence to its beauty and grandeur by offering a glimpse into the vastness and spectacular nature of the world, before the impact of human intervention. This modern Diorama represents the enormous beauty and colour of a sunset I experienced whilst in Caithness, intensified by smoke from a Miurburn caused by arson. For this I used a painstaking process to bring over a thousand strands of fine glass together, fused them in a kiln then shaped the piece and edged it with gold to make an opulent bowl.
